Chiropractic is a hands-on therapy that focuses on the manipulation of the spine through a technique known as chiropractic adjustment. It is a gentle and non-invasive therapy, suitable for treating a wide range of conditions with their roots in musculoskeletal issues.
Chiropractors undergo a minimum of 4 years medical training and are regulated in the UK by the General Chiropractic Council. Chiropractors are Primary Care Practitioners, meaning we are able to assess and diagnose your condition in the first instance and refer you to a different service if chiropractic is not the most appropriate treatment for you. You do not need a referral from your GP to see a chiropractor, and can simply book an initial appointment for yourself.
We treat a wide range of conditions which are muscle and joint related, or which have their roots in musculoskeletal issues.
If you’d like to discuss whether we can help in your particular case, feel free to contact us or book a free 30-minute consultation

It’s normal to get the odd twinge or ache, for example from lifting awkwardly, sitting at a desk too long or sleeping in a strange position. Often these problems will go away on their own, but if the issue persists for more than a day or two, it’s worth consulting a chiropractor to address the pain and avoid any further complications.
Chiropractors are experts in the spine and spinal alignment, making chiropractic an ideal choice for conditions such as back pain, neck pain and headaches, although you can also see a chiropractor for many other problems related to the joints, muscles and tendons, including sports injuries, and chronic conditions such as arthritis and sciatica.
Chiropractic is well-known for a form of spinal manipulation known as chiropractic adjustment. The patient lays face-down on a padded treatment table while the chiropractor uses their hands to make very precise thrusts into the spine, pushing vertebrae back into their correct alignment. This may create a cracking or popping sound, this is natural and not painful.
Depending on the condition you need treatment for, chiropractors also use a range of other physical therapy techniques. This may include soft tissue work such as massage and trigger point techniques, mobilisation and stretching of the joints, and medical acupuncture. Your chiropractor will discuss the most appropriate treatments for your particular problem at your first appointment.
A professional consultation with no obligation
Chiropractors are experts in diagnosing musculoskeletal symptoms through sight and palpation, and additional tests such as X-rays are not normally required. The radiation from X-rays is detrimental to your health and medical professionals should not request routine X-rays unless specifically necessary to the treatment process.
Chiropractors are Primary Care Practitioners and should we suspect a problem which requires an X-ray, CT scan or MRI – for example a suspected fracture – we will refer you to the appropriate service.
At your first appointment we will take a brief medical history and listen while you explain what has brought you to the clinic and any symptoms you are experiencing. We will then carry out a physical examination, both of any affected areas and of your general posture and biomechanics, before diagnosing your problem, discussing a treatment plan and, with your consent, proceeding to treatment.
Everyone is different and it is impossible to say how many sessions you will require to become free from pain or to restore your normal function and range of motion. For this reason, we book one appointment at a time so you can get exactly the treatment you require without being tied in to any extra sessions you may not need.
At Hutchinson Health we pride ourselves on a bespoke, person-centred approach to treatment, ensuring you are listened to and involved at every step of the treatment process. We know that no two patients or cases are the same, and take the time to ensure you receive the specific treatment which is right for you.
